Zoetersbout

Zoetersbout is a dive site on the Eastern Scheldt near the town of Bruinisse. You can dive here outside the tide, making it a good location for beginning Oosterschelde divers. This is because the spot is at the end of a dead-end branch of the Eastern Scheldt. When entering the water, you can choose to turn left or right. In particular, you may encounter sepia tents to the left of the entry. The spot is equipped with stairs leading into the water, which is convenient at high or low tide. But beware: the stairs just don't go far enough for you to walk all the way into the water with the lowest point of the water.

Besides anemones, bagpipes, oysters, sea apples, starfish, lobsters, sea grape, crab, gobies and harvester crabs, you will also find lots of snails here. Until mid-October, these creatures can be observed in many different species. You may also come across seahorses here.

Zoetersbout can be reached via Zijpseweg or Zuidweg. In winter, watch out for your personal belongings in your car, don't leave them in plain sight. There is less chance of burglaries in summer because it tends to be busier.
