Your first dive certification. After the OWD course you can dive worldwide to a maximum depth of 18 metres.
The SSI Open Water Diver course consists of three parts: theory (mainly online via the SSI app or website), pool sessions and at least four open water dives in the Grevelingenmeer. We always work in small groups — a maximum of two students per instructor in open water.
After completing your certification you can dive worldwide. Your SSI certification is recognised by all major dive organisations.
What's included?
- ✓ Online theory lessons on phone, tablet or desktop (at your own pace)
- ✓ Pool sessions
- ✓ Four open water dives in the Grevelingenmeer
- ✓ Full use of dive equipment, including dive computer
- ✓ Internationally recognised SSI certification
Why SSI?
SSI (Scuba Schools International) is one of the world's largest dive organisations. We chose SSI for the quality, the flexibility for students and the international recognition.
Diving with a disability
Dive School de Grevelingen is an official SSI Classified Diving Center. We are trained to dive with people with physical, sensory or cognitive disabilities.
The Classified Diving programme focuses on what is possible. Skills that someone cannot perform independently are supported by specially trained buddies. This way, participants can earn the full Open Water Diver certification based on standard SSI requirements.
Our home site Het Koepeltje is easily accessible for divers with limited mobility — including a chair lift to the water.
