SSI Open Water Instructor

Teach others to dive. Pass it on.

The SSI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course is the pinnacle of the SSI professional curriculum. As a certified SSI instructor you independently teach diving courses — from introduction dives to AOWD and specialties. A rewarding step for anyone who wants to turn diving into more than a hobby.

The training consists of an Instructor Development Course (IDC) — an intensive programme in which you learn to teach in open water, pool and theory settings. This is followed by the Instructor Examination (IE), conducted by SSI International. Upon passing you receive your SSI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification, recognised worldwide.

We run the instructor training in partnership with a fellow dive school. This allows us to offer the IDC with the right supervision and facilities, and ensures a rich learning experience with multiple candidates. Already a dive instructor with another organisation? An SSI Crossover lets you convert your existing PADI, CMAS or other instructor qualification to an SSI instructor certification. This path is compact and recognises what you already know.
